Country-Rock artist Dillon James has come a long way from recording his own demos and making his own mixes while trying to break into the music scene. From being a self-proclaimed “cockroach” to getting signed with Universal Music Group, it’s abundantly clear how grateful he is to be playing for fans and having a team backing him. Spelling it out for the crowd, he says, “Every one of you guys has become part of my life in some way or another… I’m just so grateful to be here.” On Wednesday, July 17th, James played an EP release show in celebration of his debut EP "River Black". With songs such as "Had Enough" and "My Shadow," the singer relates with listeners through feelings we all share at one time or another in our lives. "My Shadow" particularly is one that’s near and dear to James’ heart, speaking of the loneliness that he feels at times and the familiarity of trouble opening up to others that many know too well.
Meanwhile, lyrically, "Call Me Up" feels a bit like a classic country love song. James closed the show with the titular song "River Black," which seemed to be a crowd favorite, before preaching how much his life has changed thanks to those around him. You could feel the excitement and love radiate from him as he proclaimed, “My team and my family, man, they work hard for me… I’ve not been an easy one, but I’ll tell you right now I’m so grateful for all the people who work hard for me.” There’s no doubt in my mind that Dillon James is going to be one to watch, but in the meantime, you can stream "River Black" on all music streaming services now.
