Theo Kandel captivated the audience at 3rd and Lindsley on February 20 as he opened for Briscoe. If you're not familiar with Kandel, he is a folk singer-songwriter who jumpstarted his career here in Nashville after attending Vanderbilt University. Although Kandel now lives in New York, he came back to Music City to pour out his emotions about love, friendship, and the reality of this messy thing we call life.
Throughout his set, Kandel played music from his new album, "Eating & Drinking & Being In Love," as well as some older songs that he wrong during his time in Nashville. He also sang a cover of "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" by Richard Thompson. Kandel had the audience captivated the entire time. It's rare to see so much of the crowd engaged with the opener, but Kandel's raw lyricism and smooth voice made it impossible to look down.
