Last Friday, Culture Wars made their mark on Nashville with their striking instrumentals and authentic melodies. On the cusp of their first international tour, the Austin-based band enthralled the crowd with their raw talent and compelling presence, producing music that pushes against the current trends of modern rock. In a world of digitized noise, Culture Wars stood apart with their natural and uncompromising sound. With guitar-focused tracks and prominent vocals, the band reminded us of what creatively and authentically engaging with music feels like. They carried this authenticity to the stage, pairing an electric stage presence with edgy southern charm. The group even paid a big compliment to Music City, claiming Nashville as the “Real Music City,” compared to their native town of Austin.
Their performance was music-focused, letting the high-energy and introspective lyrics speak for themselves. Fans were able to lose themselves within songs that they could relate to in many ways, portraying themes of identity, love, and growth. The majority of the set was focused on the band’s first album, “Don’t Speak”, which was written on the heels of their extensive touring experience with bigger acts. The album serves as an homage to the group’s younger selves, while also acting as a symbol for how far they have come. In a world saturated with music, trends, and opinions, Culture Wars honored themselves by creating music and moments of authenticity and cohesion unlike many others in the modern rock landscape. Through collaboration and intentional songwriting, Culture Wars crafted music that resonated with listeners searching for something genuine.
