With the smooth charisma and calm, collected swagger of a funk/R&B outfit approaching their prime, Sir Woman touched down with a splash. Serving as a vessel for frontwoman Kelsey Wilson, the group has been making waves in the recent soul-pop phenomenon that has recently taken on the 18-25 demographic by storm. Their crowd consisted of a mostly youthful presence enjoying a wonderful evening filled with joyful, exuberant music that washed over like a wave of energy on an otherwise dull night. Though Wilson is the primary user of the name Sir Woman, the band as a whole has no shortage of talented individuals who put in their absolute best work when playing together. Hands down, one of the tightest bands on the scene.
Their incorporation of traded ad libs and solos across the group elevated this from run-of-the-mill to top-tier performers. Playing a set comprising mostly of their few hits from a collection of excellent originals was the right choice. They have captured playing with a sound that, while being from the present day, feels indescribably timeless. Additionally, they chose to incorporate some of their unreleased, but out soon, material that has been recently completed. Though not every song was known, there were a great number that were giddily hummed and sung along with by their many fans. Nearly all under the age of 30 and coming from all walks of life, this was, seemingly, a great unifying event for the neighborhood. An excuse for a good night to be had by one and all while one of the funkiest, tastiest, and most bona fide bands around laid it down.
