As part of their highly anticipated tour, Snail Mail and Dinosaur Jr. co-headlined at Nashville’s new venue The Pinnacle. The collaboration of these iconic artists drew different crowds that seemed to stay for the entire show, with young twenty-somethings in Snail Mail shirts rocking out to Dinosaur Jr. and seasoned rock enthusiasts vibing to Snail Mail’s sets. There were even a few couples or groups of people that each had a different headliner on their t-shirts. Seeing wide ranges of fans unite for their love of music was truly a sight to behold.  First, Detroit-based rock band Easy Action amped up the energy of the room as the opening act. Their style was different enough from the two co-headlining acts to seem fresh and interesting, and raw and grungy enough to infuse the audience with energy for the rest of the night. Sandwiched in between two high energy acts was indie rock singer-songwriter-guitarist Snail Mail.
Throughout the entire set, Snail Mail fans sang along to every word and gathered at the barricade to get a closer glimpse of their idol onstage. Snail Mail (aka 26-year-old Lindsey Jordan) played with a band of four people, starting with older songs and moving onto mostly newer songs by the end of the set. Singing and expertly playing guitar, Jordan sounded just like her tracks and interacted amiably with the audience, even acknowledging calls for specific songs. After Snail Mail’s set ended, most everyone in the audience stayed to watch iconic rock band Dinosaur Jr. for their entire set. The three-man band entered to rapturous applause, with many calls of “J, we love you!” (J being guitarist J Mascis). As expected, much time was dedicated to epic guitar solos and riffs. While the band sounded amazing playing their newer music, the crowd went the most wild for Dinosaur Jr. classics like “Freak Scene.” Whether you attended the Pinnacle that night for Snail Mail or Dinosaur Jr., you were likely to leave a fan of both.
