The Fort Worth-based R&B group 2BYG is running on hills and valleys carved by giants to keep what they know alive. The group came together when Touré, Matt Brown and Nixx met in high school and formed an instant partnership, both as friends and collaborators. Adding KD to the fold completed the group and fully formed their sound. 2BYG has worked together over the last five years, but they officially released their first music with Def Jam in 2025 with “Karma,” which became the lead single for their debut EP, “The Yearbook.” Their most recent release came in April 2026 with “Be Mine”: a beacon of their gospel-inspired harmonies and gliding production. It’s the band’s favorite song at the moment, and they can’t even lie. These projects pose a question of long-term excellence: Do musicians show growth through a tendency to evolve or stay uniform?
To answer that, 2BYG looks to other RnB artists who have prioritized developing a catalog of consistent quality. The band holds the same philosophy as they tell their story, that philosophy being that in love is in need of love. They are in a creative state of giving that isn’t pacing them toward something new, but allows them to percolate on what they share. “I feel like we could be a voice for people who don’t know how to articulate certain things. So if you love somebody, but you don’t really know how to say it, our music would be something you go to,” said Touré, during our conference with °1824. Living in the moment with their music also gives the band the room to figure out where they’ll go next, which is not something they can predict. That’s the experience of being young and gifted.
