Despite Nashville's first snow of 2024, droves of fans came out to the East Room to support rising country artists Abbey Cone and Corrina. Two independent women in country sharing the stage is a special thing to witness, and the East Room got a first hand look at why. Nashville native, Corrina, opened the night with sweet, southern, and melodic tracks that warmed the winter air and moved certain audience members to tears. Her vulnerable and expertly crafted lyricism stuck a clear chord within the The East Room's tenants. As powerful as her songwriting is, some may argue her stage presence is even more captivating. Corrina leaves everything on the stage, drawing the audience into her whimsical world of love, heartbreak, and fervent joy. She is lightning in a bottle when it comes to performing. Every moment is unscripted, raw, and emotive. She's an artist you want to get behind before she becomes larger than life. Her alternative-folksy soundscape is comforting, original, and grafted with that one of a kind Music City artistry. Digging into the darker parts of the human psyche, Corrina's original song "Savannah" poses a reflective and ultimately introspective question: What does your self doubt sound like? And does that voice have a name? Corrina delivers this track in specific with a voice that floats like a butterfly but cuts like a knife. First time listeners are immediately drawn to the singer/songwriter's authenticity and artistry.
Closing the night was Texas born and raised singer/songwriter Abbey Cone. Abbey brings a powerhouse vocal range to the stage and an unbreakable spirit. Abbey's writing is wistful and moving. A true up-and-coming force in country music who's performed at the Grand Ole Opry, CMA Fest, and opened for several well known country acts such as: Brittney Spencer, Kassi Ashton, LeAnn Rimes, and Abby Anderson. Abbey Cone showed the East Room why she deserves to tour with the greats. Cone is one of the most versatile country vocalists whose expertise spans from pop to traditional country. She is an artist influenced by all country has to offer and isn't afraid to break the bonds of genre. The theme of the night at The East Room was "Where I Am, and Where I'm Going." Abbey truly showed with the debuted trad country tunes, she's going to be remembered as one of the greats. You could feel the soul in everything she put on stage. "We Were Never Gonna" was the quintessential break up song that doesn't leave your head, "Video Games" is a song that's bound to remind you of your ex, and Abbey was daring enough to debut a few new more traditional country songs that are bound to be successes. With the hit track "If You Were a Song" already under her belt, we're sure to be hearing more hits from Abbey soon enough.
