Riff Wood knows how to put on a show. This teenage band lit up The Basement East on their Nashville stop, promoting their upcoming album "Butterfly In Black And White", produced by the renowned Rob Cavallo. Honing in on their pop-punk and alt-rock sounds and flavors, this band puts a young, fresh twist on tones made famous by bands such as Green Day and My Chemical Romance, thus keeping the spirit of alternative rock alive in younger audiences today. Riff Wood rose to fame through viral TikToks performing original songs such as “Blur” and “I Won’t” acoustically with a picturesque mountain background from their Utah hometown. Their raw talent, coupled with their down-to-earth nature, captured the Internet’s attention. As they have grown as a band, their fanbase has grown from viewers of virality to dedicated followers.
Riff Wood’s Basement East show was truly a blast with confetti raining down as the band took the stage, band members Carson Groves and Hyrum Russon throwing beach balls in the crowd, and the band talking and joking with a very engaged audience. Highlight moments included an incredible cover of the Beatles’ "I Wanna Hold Your Hand", a hilarious boxing-themed segue to the tune of Rocky with a guitar battle between Groves and Russon playing famous licks, high-energy performances of originals, including “Shy Guy” and “Tough Luck”, and of course, the crowd singing along to “Blur”.
