On Saturday, June 28, indie rock artist Blondshell played a completely sold out show at Nashville’s Basement East. Opening for Blondshell was talented indie artist Daffo with their accompanying band. Daffo, aka songwriter and musician Gabi Gamberg, had a practiced yet exciting voice, singing various ranges and runs. Along with their band, they wore blue denim onstage and captivated the audience with both an inviting and intense energy. They even played harmonica and shared some touching moments with their bandmates, resting heads on each other’s shoulders and playing side by side. After Daffo’s electrifying performance, Blondshell continued to up the energy.
Blondshell, the musical moniker of Los Angeles-based Sabrina Mae Teitelbaum, rocked the stage with talent and authenticity. Her steady voice carried through the crowd and she moved around the stage with subtle, on-the-spot dance moves. This spontaneity as well as casual clothing and minimum set decor allowed the audience to fully focus in on the music. Starting with “23’s A Baby” and ending with “Salad,” the show was an emotional catharsis for both audience and artist. Blondshell also included her iconic (now viral) cover of Addison Rae’s pop hit “Diet Pepsi.” Additionally, supporting band members showed impressive talent and stamina throughout the night. After the energizing display of both Daffo and Blondshell’s talent and authenticity, it was easy to tell why Blondshell’s “If You Asked For A Tour” sold out at the Basement East.
