After not releasing any music on streaming for nearly three years, the Memphis based alt-rock band, Jombi, has just released their latest single, “‘Til the Shed Collapse.” Straight out of the gate, the main guitar riff hooks listeners in. The song is high energy from the very first note. The arpeggiated guitar line sits below the vocals, providing a rippling sound quality to the instrumentation. The vibe of the verses is a stark contrast to the rest of the track. The verses have a calmer feel to them, while the chorus brings the energy back up. Auden Brummer brings the heat for lead vocals, reaching the soaring notes in the chorus with ease. Listeners can really sense the emotion he puts into these lyrics. The guitar work done by Sam Wallace, and presumably Auden Brummer as well, is phenomenal. The darker tone of the guitars provides an alluring sound to the song. Every single chord change, riff, and improvisation serves the song perfectly. The pumping bass line from Caleb Crouch keeps the song going, swiftly adapting to every turn the song takes.
The warm tone from his bass guitar rounds out the stringed instruments excellently. Bry Hart’s drumming forges its own path, standing out as a real highlight of this song. He expertly creates his own moments behind the drum kit, dazzling listeners with his creative drum fills. Each member of the band shines in their own way on this track, highlighting the individual talent within Jombi. The biggest moment on “Til the Shed Collapse” is the breakdown towards the end of the song. It takes the song to a new level. The breakdown brings the song to a triumphant finish. “Til the Shed Collapse” is just a taste of the new music to come. With “Til the Shed Collapse”, Jombi proves that they are one of the hottest groups in the Tennessee music scene. Their diverse blend of influences creates a one of a kind method of sonic exploration. Jombi are playing June 14th at the Cobra in Nashville, so be sure to check it out and hear “Til the Shed Collapse” live!
