Haiden Henderson’s new album “Bleach” is raw, vulnerable, in your face, and raunchy, and in our recent °1824 conference with Haiden, this was exactly what he was going for. He spoke very candidly about sex, being in touch with one’s femininity, and “maybe not knowing yourself as well as you think you do.” Henderson's influences include pop legends such as Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Eve, as well as growing up in an area that was heavily influenced by RnB and Hip Hop. He was striving to create something separate from what the current Pop boys are making, and wanted to lean into something new. With assistance from the Hans Zimmerman Orchestra and a female team of songwriters, Haiden is able to create something fresh and new that the pop scene has been craving. He spoke candidly about “killing one’s self to become something new” and this project is capturing that very well. Haiden described himself as "intense and melodramatic" and wanted the project to match that feeling while also breaking through the noise.
I asked him about advice to young musicians and songwriters looking to get into the industry. His response was that it’s always changing, but that one should push to continue to do their own thing. What he described as “the beautiful torture” of the internet, but that you can create your own space and hub online. If your community is loud enough and pushing behind you, the right people will find you. “Community is what you put into it” and he understands and stays connected to his community through social media, discord servers, and even a collab with wattpad for his songs to have a story released alongside of his music. He made a point as well that if he’s not living enough life between writing it makes it more challenging to get songs done. Haiden Henderson's new album “Bleach” was released on October 30th and I’m excited to see where the rest of his journey will take him on tour.
