Nashville-based Trevor Finlay released his Blues-Rock single “A Little Too Much,” on August 14th, 2026. The rock and blues-infused melody provides an interesting contrast; irony. Blues-rock style has always been raw and genuine, using real instrumentation and voices; this brings forth a real connection with audiences.The instrumental music serves as a critique of the fake and fast moving world of social media. The lyrics, written by Robert K. Wolf and Trevor Finlay, provide social commentary about the modern usage of social media. The lyrics reflect how we’re really not gaining much from overwhelming gossip, “I can see the writing on the virtual wall / Saying every damn thing about nothing at all.” The chorus changes from “I know a little too much about a little too much,” to “It’s a little too late / A little too late to take back now,” at 1:48.
There’s a solo guitar break, overloading us with the blues, the same way social media overloads us. The verse that follows is the realization that social media is an inevitable way to stay connected, you just have to be aware of how much you consume. “Gotta stay connected, gotta stay aware / Does it really matter if I don’t really care / Sometimes I gotta say that enough is enough.” Finlay delivers a humorous realization to the over-consumption of social media that makes us all know “A Little Too Much,” about people we don’t know about. It’s compelling through wordplay and an electrifying blues-rock atmosphere — that doesn’t make us forget the authentic connection of music.
