Charlieonnafriday’s “The Onnafriday Tour” kicked off night two at Nashville’s Cannery Hall. This headlining tour follows Charlie’s worldly-spanning run opening for Tate McRae and Jessie Murph in recent years. Charlie Malone Finch, more commonly known on stage as Charlieonnafriday has a very prominent social media presence and therefore a consistently growing fan base, with almost three million followers on TikTok and close to a quarter of a million on Instagram. We had a chance through Universal Music Group’s °1824 to catch Charlieonnafriday in Nashville, seemingly the rapper’s favorite place, and it was a can’t miss sold-out night.
To open the show, independent hip-hop/rock artist Vwillz brought the hype to the energetic crowd. Starting off with a cover of “Last Night”, a modern country hit by Morgan Wallen introduced the crowd to Vwillz and the country influences in his artistry. Vwillz played unreleased songs such as “All Weekend”, and some of his top songs that the audience knew all the words to, with “Falling Slowly” and “Sundown”. Even though he kept the set short, it was still memorable for the crowd and Vwillz always made sure to check in with the crowd and make sure they were feeling okay.
As the lights from Vwillz went down, the background LED “Onnafriday” sign illuminated the room, and the crowd anxiously awaited Charlie’s arrival. When Charlie opened with “I’m not crazy”, the crowd did go crazy, with fans of all ages singing along and even having the mic pointed in their direction by Charlie. Charlie made sure to highlight his viral hits “Enough” and “After Hours”, but also added some at-the-time unreleased songs from his second album (out now!) titled “Wild Child”. For the first time, the audience got to hear “Undecided”, “I Don’t Want To Go Downtown”, “I Miss Seattle” and more live from the sophomore album. An unforgettable moment for the audience members came when Charlie invited fans to play beer pong with him on stage, then fittingly playing his hit “Bottle Go Down” after. With a setlist that covered the current, past, and future musical eras of Charlieonnafriday, fans sure had a wild night and are now enjoying the release of “Wild Child”.
