On October 14th, fans of Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy gathered at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl for a special night of intimate indie rock. As a co-headlining tour, both acts complemented each other in all the right ways. Weaving through themes of growing pains, heartbreak, and the trials of being young, Soccer Mommy and Snail Mail both effortlessly transform these ideas into catchy melodies and intelligent songwriting. With support from Scarlet Rae, Brooklyn Bowl became a place to feel all there is to feel and gave the audience a chance to share those feelings with a unified crowd. Snail Mail is the musical brainchild of guitarist and singer-songwriter Lindsay Jordan. She has been performing as Snail Mail since 2015, and quickly gained recognition as a powerhouse of indie-rock. Opening with “Tractor Beam” from her 2026 album Ricochet, the audience immediately fell into a trance. Featuring shimmering guitar melodies and understated vocals from Jordan, the performance was easily listenable and inescapable. Jordan’s unique vocals over the layered instrumentation allowed the true emotion of her songwriting to shine through, while her catchy guitar riffs and the driving drum beats gave breath to the tunes. A highlight of her performance was a cover of “Breathe” by Michelle Branch. Jordan stated that she has been dreaming of performing this song since she was three years old, and was excited to debut the cover in Nashville.
Closing out the set with the fan favorite “Pristine” off of her album Lush, fans were singing along and eagerly awaiting the arrival of the second act. Next up was Nashville native Sophie Allison, also known as Soccer Mommy. Allison has been making waves in the indie-rock community since releasing her first album, For Young Hearts, in 2016. Opening her set with the fan favorite “circle the drain” off of her 2020 record color theory, fans knew that they were in for an exciting rest of their night. Soccer Mommy offers delicate vocals over instrumentation that goes from clean and catchy to full-on distortion. Drawing from her extensive catalog, the audience could feel how seemingly easy it is for Allison to take complex ideas and themes and transform them into a universal feeling. Also playing hits like “Your Dog” and “shotgun”, the audience danced and sang along with every note. Being back in her hometown also added an extra layer of intimacy for Allison, as she reconnected with her roots. Together, Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy created an exciting emotional landscape within the walls of Brooklyn Bowl, and allowed audiences to free express themselves as they see fit. Turning human experiences into universal ideas is a strong suit of both artists, and their abilities definitely shone during their time in Nashville.
